Modern Minimalist Backyard Retreat

The goal for this landscape project was to create a minimalist yard with modern colours and textures, straight lines, and easy transitions between zones.

The homeowners wanted a modern retreat to escape to at the end of the day.  To accomplish this, we incorporated hardscaping elements and landscaping features such as flagstone pathways and steps, a small rock garden with a fountain feature and an outdoor sitting area. 

The challenge with this yard was the downhill slope from the front to the back. We used the Expocrete Zenwall retaining wall to create a seating area with contrasting Bridgewood paving stone — keeping in sync with the modern feel of the rest of the yard. The final result was a beautiful modern minimalist patio that is the perfect place to sit, enjoy the sun, and listen to the babbling waters of their water feature.
